Goalkeeper is one of the most important positions in a football team, and other than perhaps a striker there isn't a position that gets more acclaim. This is because a goalkeeper can often decide the fate of a game by making a save or by giving away a penalty. Goalkeepers are thought to be slightly different to other footballers, and in this article we discuss what makes a brilliant goalkeeper by looking at some of the best goalkeepers in the world at this moment as well as some old goalkeepers who were the best in their time. Obviously everyone has their own opinion about goalkeepers and there are likely to be a lot of brilliant goalkeepers that I do not mention. For this I apologise, but I can only focus on what I've seen in the last 25 years. Until very recently, Czech Republic international Petr Cech was known as being one of the greatest goalies around until his recent drop of form. He was the bedrock that the Chelsea team was built around, owing partly due to his huge six foot five frame and his excellent shot stopping ability. Goalkeepers don't tend to reach their peak till their 30's, so there is still time for Cech to regain his form and prove once again that he is the best goalkeeper in the world. Another goalkeeper who is already thought of as one of the best goalkeepers in the world despite having their best years ahead of them is Gianluigi Buffon. He was signed by Juventus for fifty-two million Euro's in 2001 and since then has gone on to win a World Cup and many domestic titles. แทงบอลล้มโต๊ะ Probably the best goalkeeper of the last 30 years is the Danish legend Peter Schemeichal. Unlike the other goalkeepers mentioned, Schmeichal only became a household name at the age of 27 when he joined Manchester United, and it was still a number of years before he established himself in their first team. Schmeichel embodied all the aspects of the perfect goalkeeper. He was tall, intimidating and vocal, often screaming at his defenders if he thought they were not doing his job properly. He was a scary figure and one that you wouldn't want to cross. Although playing 129 for Denmark, it was with United that he made his greatest achievement when he won the European Championship in 1999. A great goalkeeper can make the difference between a good team and won that wins all before them. The three goalkeepers mentioned are amongst the best I have ever seen and have got the titles to prove it.
